A process, using software, to turn raw data into useful information by looking for patterns in large batches of data.

The electronic storage of a large amount of information by an organization and designed to support business intelligence, especially analytics.

The day, month and year specifying when a consumer product was manufactured, filled, or packaged, or a code indicating such a date.

The quantity of inventory on hand relative to number of days for which usage will be covered. Example: 1000 units used at the rate of 50 per day equals 20 days.

The value of the goods, as declared by the shipper on a bill of lading, used for the purpose of determining a freight rate or to limit the carrier’s liability.

A business that breaks down consolidated shipments, orders, goods, etc., to facilitate distribution.

Agreement in which a carrier dedicates equipment (vehicles) and drivers to a single customer for its exclusive use on a contractual basis for a specified time.

Goods with problems put into a separate inventory account when received. May be returned to the supplier, sent to a different warehouse, or scrapped.

The time agreed between two companies for goods or transportation equipment to arrive at a location.

Seller is responsible for arranging transport and delivering the goods at the named place, cleared for import and all applicable taxes and duties paid (e.g. VAT, GST).

Document issued to a carrier to pick up goods at one location and deliver them to another location.

Document issued by the customs broker to the ocean carrier as authority to release the cargo to the appropriate party. Also called a customs release.

Measures the percentage of orders that are fulfilled on or before the internal commit date and is used to evaluate internal scheduling systems effectiveness.
