The value of the goods, as declared by the shipper on a bill of lading, used for the purpose of determining a freight rate or to limit the carrier’s liability.

A business that breaks down consolidated shipments, orders, goods, etc., to facilitate distribution.

Dedicated Contract Carriage
Agreement in which a carrier dedicates equipment (vehicles) and drivers to a single customer for its exclusive use on a contractual basis for a specified time.

Defective Goods Inventory (DGI)
Goods with problems put into a separate inventory account when received. May be returned to the supplier, sent to a different warehouse, or scrapped.

Delivery Appointment
The time agreed between two companies for goods or transportation equipment to arrive at a location.

Delivery-Duty-Paid
Seller is responsible for arranging transport and delivering the goods at the named place, cleared for import and all applicable taxes and duties paid (e.g. VAT, GST).
