JP joined Kpler in June 2024 and leads Kpler Insight’s analytics in North America, South America, and the Middle East. JP began his career as an upstream oil & gas analyst, creating economic models of individual oil and gas fields in Oceania and the US. He then spent nine years on the LNG & Natural Gas consulting team at Poten & Partners, where he worked on projects for myriad industry players. In particular, JP was heavily involved in commercial and market due diligence for nearly every North American LNG project. JP is based in New York and holds a BSc in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

Michelle Brouhard

Head of Policy and Geopolitical Risk

Michelle Brouhard is the Head of Policy and Geopolitical Risk at Kpler, with over 20 years of experience trading global oil, natural gas, and power markets. Her work sits at the intersection of policy and markets, where she has expressed geopolitical and sanctions risk directly through portfolio construction, positioning, and risk management. She recently completed a Master’s in Global Policy at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where her work focused on energy security, climate policy, and economic competitiveness within the Energy Trilemma framework.

Court Smith is a seasoned maritime professional with extensive experience in the shipping and energy markets. He has held various roles including ship broker, Head of Research, and product manager. Court's unique blend of industry expertise and analytical skills makes him a valuable asset to the Kpler team.

Reid I'Anson

Macroeconomist

Reid joined Kpler over six years ago as a crude analyst and has grown alongside the company ever since. Based in Houston, Reid has a near decade of experience studying the intersection between global demand conditions and the state of commodity markets with a particular focus on emerging markets. Before joining Kpler, Reid obtained a masters degree in Economics from the University of Houston. He also holds a bachelors degree in Finance. You will regularly find him quoted in the financial press or appearing on tv to provide timely updates on the state of commodity markets across the globe.

Gillian Boccara

Director - LNG & Natural Gas

Gillian joined Kpler in September 2024 and leads our global LNG and natural gas service across Flows and Insight. She has worked in the commodity industry for the past 15 years with roles spanning research, trading and consulting. She has focused on the gas and LNG markets for the past 11 years, initially working as a hedge trader for the LNG desk at Gazprom Marketing & Trading and later leading the Natural Gas team for Energy Solutions at McKinsey & Company serving clients on strategic and commercial topics globally. Gillian is based in London and holds a PhD in Atmospheric Physics from École Polytechnique and an MSci in Physics from Imperial College.

Hamza Aourach

Senior Product Manager - Power

He began his career in the energy sector at Kpler, focusing on LNG and crude inventories, before expanding his expertise in power markets at leading French utilities TotalEnergies and EDF. With extensive experience in renewables direct marketing, short-term optimization strategies, and flexibility markets, he brings a deep understanding of the evolving energy landscape and the challenges of integrating renewable energy into power systems.

Matthew Darragh

Grains & Oilseeds Analyst

Matt joined Kpler’s Insight Team in January 2025 as a Grains & Oilseeds Analyst, based in London. Prior to Kpler, Matt was a Cereals & Oilseeds Analyst at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), conducting both domestic (UK) and global analysis of the respective grains and oilseeds markets. Before becoming an analyst at AHDB, Matt acquired a Masters of Science in Agricultural Economics at the University of Reading. At Kpler, Matt contributes to the Insight reports and conducts supply and demand analysis to support on the grain balance sheets.

Jean-Charles Gordon

Oliver Ge

Head of Research at McQuilling Services

Oliver Ge brings 12 years of maritime and business analysis experience to McQuilling Services. He graduated from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economy and from Hofstra University with a Master of Science in Finance, specialized in risk management and quantitative finance. In his current role as the Head of Research, Mr. Ge leads McQuilling Services' market research for clients including oil majors, state-owned oil companies, shipping entities, shipyards, and investment funds. Mr. Ge has contributed to the company's goal to expand its global footprint in Southeast Asia, Far East and N & S America countries.

Julia Santos

Sr. Market Data Analyst - Dry Bulk

Julia leads the Americas efforts for the Agricultural & Dry Bulk Commodities unit of Kpler. She holds a B.S. in Physical Oceanography from University of California, Santa Barbara and previously worked as a Senior Maritime Analyst focusing on driving sustainability and efficiency in the maritime industry through voyage optimization. As a Market Data Analyst, she closely monitors Kpler’s granular data on vessel movements, trade activity, and macro flows in Grains and Oilseeds, Fertilizers, Forest Products, and other Dry Minor Bulks.

Dr Edward L. Morse

Senior Advisor and Commodities Analyst at Hartree Partners

Ed Morse is Senior Advisor and Commodities Analyst at Hartree Partners. Previously, he was Global Head of Commodities Research at Citi. He held similar positions at Lehman and Credit Suisse, taught at Princeton, Columbia and Johns Hopkins, worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Policy, and in management at Phillips Petroleum. He was co-founder of PFC Energy and former publisher at Energy Intelligence. He currently chairs the New York Energy Forum Advisory Board.
