Was instrumental in supporting the launch of the AG fuel oil derivative contract in 2016 and continues to advise traders, exchanges, and PRAs. Career includes positions as trader for Trafigura, director at Nigerian energy company Oando, and director at brokerage house Starfuels. Sumit Ritolia is Lead Analyst for Refining Supply and Modelling at Kpler with over a decade of expertise in refining operations, supply planning, and downstream economics. He holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, India. Before Kpler, Sumit spent 7.5 years at ONGC specialising in hydrocarbon value chain optimisation and supply chain management, then nearly two years at S&P Global Commodity Insights as Refinery Economist focusing on market fundamentals, margin modelling, and refining outlooks. Since April 2024, he has led analytical coverage on refining supply-demand dynamics and regional capacity trends at Kpler's downstream insight team. He is based in Gurgaon, India.
